Israeli and Palestinian Cinema

The production of cinema in Israel and Palestine offer complicated questions about the relative autonomy of art under state surveillance.  While Israeli cinema operates with a high degree of relative autonomy on subjects located within Israeli and Jewish themes, the treatment of Palestinian and Arab subjects is complicated and compromised by tenuous questions of cinematic sponsorship and censorship.
